Elvis's 75th Birthday!

Elvis's birthday in pictures! We must say this has been one of our favourite celebrations! In honour of the Kings 75th birthday (if he were still with us... he is in spirit) we spent the day doing Elvis stuff. We blasted his music from work offices, mobile phone ring tones and every available stereo! Constantly churned out his catchphrases, attempted his moves and tried out his favourite sammich! That night we went down the local pub dressed as Elvis...

As you can see we were welcomed and cheered. Even if you're not a fan of Elvis you know one of his songs or phrases.... we know this because random people came up to us and demonstrated it! It went down a treat. It was also a great way to get the point of celebrate everything across!

Good times, ah uh!

Ivanovden day (St. John's day)

To be honest this was a bit of reach! Life caught up with us and left us searching for something to celebrate but it could not have worked out better. We found Ivanovden day on a Bulgarian website... there is not much information on it but we ran with it. Essentially it is a feast day celebrating John the baptist. It said celebrate people with the name John or Ivan so we did! We scouted out our local haunts for a John... or two! We even made a sign....

This is us with the first John we found! We bought him a pint of his choice in celebration! It went down well... John and his friends seemed to like our Celebrate Everything Project :) A winner!

Though repeatedly saying John makes it a little bit crazy and again those dirty minded folk tried turning it something it wasn't... however e we got our local blues band on board and got a lovely shout out!

Twelth Night../Epiphany!

Twelfth night is one of controversy... It is usually celebrated on the 6th January but technically begins on the night of the fifth. So in true celebratory style we celebrated both days! We didn't want to be unfair...

Twelfth night is the last day of Christmas, the last night of celebrating and taking down your decorations. If you don't take down your decorations and such on this day you have to leave them up all year... we left ours up since we're celebrating all year!

We did some of the traditional Twelfth day traditions... bit of wassailing... bit of being a queen for a day.

World Braille Day..

This is us making braille cards. In honour of world Braille day we made Braille cards to try and learn how to read Braille. The day happens to raise awareness for the difficulties of the blind. It is so unbelievably difficult. We urge you to it for yourself. It really does make you think about how lucky you really are. We can actually see that we honestly learnt something from today celebration.

On a more unsuccessful note... we did not manage to learn Braille successfully. At all!

Fruit Cake Toss day...

This is us at our fruit cake tossing best!

Fruit cake toss was born from not knowing what to do with all the left over christmas cake. How best to get rid of it? Well several people have been quite inventive, in particular the guys over in Manitou Springs in Colorado have created mechanical contraptions to toss their fruit cakes into the beyond. They have turned it into quite a great competition! Do look up fruit cake tossing on you tube...

Fruit cake toss day turned out to be a lot of fun! Though the word toss/tossing caused a little bit of a stir... all those dirty minded people!! We had a little trek around the town to find the perfect fruit cake for tossing.

We opted for... the mcvities version, a bargain at 49p!

Run it up the flag pole and see who salutes it Day...

Run it Up the flag pole and see who salutes it day is an expression that means to float an idea to see what people think and how perfectly placed for us right at the beginning of the year. We decided to test out our ‘celebrate everything’ concept with the cheery punters in our new head quarters, Athenaeum pub in central Manchester (you can find us there most days or just ask at the bar).

So we started the creative process with a beautifully drawn spider diagram to get our thoughts down on paper. Once we’d got bored of the new marker pens we approached Tom (Athenaeum bar staff member and free tea giver) to be our guinea pig, if you will. We may not have explained the concept particularly well at first, or maybe he got a bit over whelmed with us both explaining different parts at the same time but eventually it was a thumbs up!!!!!

We proceeded to canvas the bar with a 100% approval rate. Smitten that we’d hit on an awesome idea (though we already knew this) we decided to call upon our neighbour, Mike. Although initially confused by the name of the day we were celebrating, it was another yes (or he may have wanted to get back to his footy). Either way we definitely floated a new idea, one we will nurture for the next 363 days.

Our flag was well and truly raised but more importantly SALUTED!

New Year's Day

JANUARY 1ST

And so it began.

Celebrate everything shot into life on January first when we made our new years resolutions. The resolution of CELEBRATE EVERYTHING thus turned into a 365 day adventure. The premise being that we will celebrate something every day of 2010. 365 celebrations woo! The rules and regulations are still on going for what we celebrate and what we don't and how we celebrate are still being figured out but the celebrations are on going...

The celebrations have to be worthy! Though not always official but do indeedy have to have a few previous followers/celebrators/champions/lovers!

Day one: Celebrated...

NEW YEAR'S DAY!

The first day of the year was celebrated by detoxing from the wild new year's eve night. And what a wild one (and new year's eve's eve too) we felt we had to break in the new year by cleansing our bodies and souls but also cleaning out the entire flat as it looked like an actual bomb site. No jokes. Decided against posting a photo of the mess as to not besmirch our usual tidy natures!
